On Microsoft Windows, the installer registers FileZilla Pro as a protocol handler for FTP, FTPS, FTPES, SFTP and S3. This allows you to click on links using these protocols and have them automatically open in a new tab within FileZilla Pro.
However, note that this behavior is managed by the operating system. If FileZilla Pro is not already set as the default handler, links may open in a different application.
To check or change the default handler for these protocols:
- Open the Settings app on your Windows device.
- Go to Apps, and then Default apps.
- Click on Choose default apps by protocol (on Windows 11, Choose defaults by link type).
- Locate the protocols FTP, FTPS, FTPES, SFTP, and S3.
- If another application is set as the default, click it and select FileZilla Pro from the list.
This ensures FileZilla Pro will launch automatically when clicking supported protocol links.
