How to Renew Your FileZilla Pro CLI Subscription

Your FileZilla Pro CLI subscription is time-limited, so it needs to be renewed to keep you on the latest versions and to keep your access to support from our team. This applies to FileZilla Pro CLI and FileZilla CLI. From the next release after version 3.69.9, you will be able to do this from the command line: you can enter a new registration key before your current subscription expires, so there is no gap, no reinstalling and no need to register again from scratch.

Which Version Do I Need?

The extend subscription feature will be available in the releases after version 3.69.9 of FileZilla Pro CLI and FileZilla CLI. To see which version you are running, use the ver command, as described in how to get the version and build info. If you are running 3.69.9 or an earlier version, update when the next release is out; see how to install FileZilla Pro CLI for the latest installer.

Renewing does not change your configuration or your scripts. It only extends the validity of your subscription.

Why You Should Keep the CLI Up to Date

Besides unlocking this feature, running a recent build means you get the fixes released since your version, including security fixes. This matters most for scheduled and unattended jobs, which keep running whatever version is installed until someone updates it.

How to Extend Your Subscription

Extending works like the first registration: FileZilla Pro CLI and FileZilla CLI guide you through it with prompts. See FileZilla Pro CLI registration for how the first registration works.

  1. Open a command prompt and run the --register option. If FileZilla Pro CLI or FileZilla CLI was registered for all users, run it as administrator. For example:
    "C:\Program Files\FileZilla Pro CLI\fzcli.exe" --register

You may need to adjust the path to where FileZilla Pro CLI is installed on your system. Make sure the path is enclosed in quotes if it contains spaces.

  2. The CLI shows the date your current subscription will expire and asks Extend the current subscription now? with the options Yes, No and Offline. Enter Yes, or just press Enter, since it is the default, to extend your subscription via the internet. Enter Offline if the machine has no internet access (see the last step), or No if you don’t want to extend now.
  3. Enter your previous registration key when prompted.
  4. Enter your new registration key. If you have not yet received it, enter the e-mail address you used when you purchased FileZilla Pro CLI or FileZilla CLI instead.
  5. The CLI checks the registration. If the information you entered is correct, it confirms that your subscription has been extended and shows the new expiry date. Press any key to continue. If you run into an issue, check that the previous registration key, and the new registration key or e-mail address, were entered correctly. If the problem persists, contact info@filezillapro.com.
A command prompt running fzcli.exe --register: the CLI shows the expiry date, asks to extend the subscription, prompts for the previous registration key and the new registration key, and confirms the subscription was extended
  6. If you need to extend the subscription offline, for example behind a corporate firewall that blocks the CLI or on a machine without internet access, enter Offline at the Extend the current subscription now? prompt. The CLI creates a request that you can copy to the clipboard or save into a file. Submit it on our website, and then enter the confirmation code you receive, or the name of the file you saved it to, back in the CLI. This works the same way as offline registration.

Note: If your subscription has already expired, purchase a new subscription and register it with the new registration key, as described in FileZilla Pro CLI registration.
