FileZilla® Pro provides full support for Microsoft OneDrive — including OneDrive Personal, OneDrive for Business, and SharePoint. Microsoft’s cloud storage service was originally launched in 2007 as Windows Live Folders and renamed OneDrive in 2014; today it lets users store and share files and photos across phones, desktop computers, Xbox consoles, and more. With FileZilla Pro you can connect to OneDrive from the desktop, transfer files between your local machine and the cloud, and manage sharing permissions without ever leaving the client.
OneDrive support is part of FileZilla Pro’s wider cloud storage lineup — alongside Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, Backblaze B2 and more — reflecting our continued commitment to give professional users one tool to find, transfer and share all of their files.
How to access Microsoft OneDrive in FileZilla Pro
Before you start, make sure you have a OneDrive account and your Microsoft login credentials at hand. Then follow these steps to set up the connection:
- In the menu bar, click File › Site Manager… and click New Site to create a new connection.
- Select Microsoft OneDrive from the Protocol drop-down list. FileZilla Pro will fill in the host name automatically.
- Optionally enter a login as a hint for Microsoft authentication, then click Connect.
- FileZilla Pro launches your default browser and redirects you to Microsoft to authorize FileZilla Pro.
- Enter your Microsoft credentials and authorize the access request.
- On Windows the authentication window closes automatically. On Mac, copy the authorization code from the browser and paste it into the FileZilla Pro authorization window (or use the Copy to clipboard / Paste from clipboard buttons).
- FileZilla Pro verifies the server’s TLS certificate — the common name should include
microsoftonline.com. Click OK to confirm. - Your OneDrive directories and files appear in the Remote site panel, ready for transfer.
OneDrive Personal vs OneDrive for Business and SharePoint
The directory structure FileZilla Pro displays depends on the type of OneDrive account you connected with:
- OneDrive Personal shows My Drives (your personal drives) and Shared with Me (items shared with you by other users).
- OneDrive for Business additionally shows Groups (your organization’s group drives), SharePoint (your organization’s SharePoint drives) and Sites (your organization’s site drives).

How to share files via Microsoft OneDrive
Beyond uploading and downloading, FileZilla Pro lets you manage OneDrive sharing permissions and create sharing links directly from the client — no need to switch to the OneDrive web interface.
- Select the files or directories you want to share, right-click and choose Share.
- Click the + button to add a permission, enter one or more recipient email addresses and pick the role: edit (recipient can edit) or view (recipient can only view).
- Optionally add a custom message — OneDrive will include it in the invitation email sent when a new permission is added or an existing role is changed.
- Tick Requires sign-in if recipients must sign in with a OneDrive account to access the shared item.
- To create a sharing link, choose link type view (read-only) or edit (read-write) and click Create — the link appears in the list below.
- To remove a permission, click the − button. Click OK to apply changes.

How to access Microsoft OneDrive without re-authorizing every time
Microsoft OneDrive requires an authorization step that creates an authentication token. To avoid re-authorizing every time you launch FileZilla Pro:
- Choose Edit › Settings › Password, select Save passwords protected by a master password and close FileZilla Pro.
- Launch FileZilla Pro again, open Site Manager, select the OneDrive connection and click Connect.
- Select Remember master password. FileZilla Pro will no longer ask you to authorize OneDrive access on every launch.
- To stop storing the OneDrive token, select Forget stored master password.
