Protocol Authentication Policies

The Protocol Policies tab allows system administrators to configure default authentication settings for different file transfer protocols. These settings define whether specific authentication methods are enabled or disabled by default for all users.

The following authentication options can be configured:

FTP authentication (insecure): Allows you to “Enable by default” or “Disable by default” the standard FTP authentication method. This protocol transmits data in plain text and does not provide encryption.

FTPS (FTP over TLS) authentication: Allows you to “Enable by default” or “Disable by default” the FTPS authentication method. This protocol provides encryption through TLS, offering a secure alternative to standard FTP.

SFTP authentication: Allows you to “Enable by default” or “Disable by default” the SFTP authentication method. This protocol operates over SSH and provides encrypted file transfers and operations.

Note: These settings only define the default behavior. Individual user or group settings can still override these defaults when specifically configured in the user’s profile.
