Double-click on the FileZilla Server install file to start the installation. This file will be named FileZilla_Server_<version number>.pkg. For example:
FileZilla_Server_1.4.1.pkg
If your Mac is set to allow apps from the App Store and identified developers, the first time that you launch FileZilla Server installer your Mac will ask if you’re sure you want to open it. Confirm you are ok to install.
In case you have set your Mac to allow apps only from the App Store and you try to install FileZilla Server, your Mac will say that the app can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store. In this case go to Security & Privacy. Click the Open Anyway button in the General panel to confirm your intent to open or install FileZilla Server.
To install FileZilla Server click on the Continue button.
Depending on your macOS version, you may need to confirm the installation for all users. Click the OK button to proceed.
To install both the Administration interface and the Server click on the Continue button. If you need to install only the Administration interface to manage a remote FileZilla Server deselect Install server service.
Instead, if you want to uninstall FileZilla Server, deselect Install server service and press Continue. Afterwards delete the application bundle and then empty the trash to make sure it is removed.
Note: On macOS you can’t select the destination, it will be installed in the /Applications directory.
The installer will inform you about the required space, if you are ok with that, click on the Install button and the installation will be performed.
Once the installation has been completed, you’ll see the following dialog:
Click on the Close button and start configuring FileZilla Server via its Administration interface that gets launched automatically.
Note: macOS might alert you that a software you installed has items that can be run in the background.
You can manage that by choosing Apple menu › System Settings, click General in the sidebar and then click Login Items on the right.
